thanks for exploring
in so many words: there is plenty – more than enough – ‘stuff’ on this good, green earth. why would anyone, ever, buy anything new? cars, clothing, furniture, art: you name it – it already exists. rather: make it, grow it, re-purpose it, fix it, research it, scavenge for it.
there aren’t enough garages to store, tools to fix or notepads to list the countless ideas that flood the space between my ears. truthfully, the d.i.y. life can be overwhelming but i’m fulfilling my mission to reuse, recycle & re-purpose nearly everything i can. i’ve been an artist since grade school & a home cook since before that. i started goodwilling in middle school & hoarding scraps of paper around that same time. after spending all of high school altering my own clothing (for necessity & beyond) i began mapping a future dedicated to making everything my very own.
fast forward to finding the love of my life: he puts up with my collecting, painting, sanding, storing, piling, spraying…. the glue, the stamps, the wood, fabric, string, jars, hardware, …. some of our best memories happen in chairs & around tables we found on the side of the road.
we bought a house. this is our story about using this dream space for all things listed above (check out his version here). if i can inspire one other idea-girl or -guy to boycott new production & give an old ‘thing’ new life, i’ll consider my mission paid forward.
happy fixing, creating, decorating, cooking, growing, eating, researching & so forth.
